Remodeling & Additions

In addition to new home construction, the David Smith Group also handles remodeling projects and makes additions to existing homes.
Living Room PhotoOur staff understands that you love your home, your neighbors, the location of your home, and the memories you've created there. You simply need more room for a growing family, or you've finally decided to go for that gourmet kitchen, or it's time to replace that dated bathroom. If that's the case, remodeling or a room addition may be the perfect answer.
One of the primary challenges of “adding on” is making the new addition blend with the existing structure, even when the original construction may have taken place 10, 20, or 100 years ago. This requires keen attention to detail in materials selection, especially on the exterior where old and new meet, and where aging caused by the elements can be particularly noticeable.
Exterior of Home PhotoOn the exterior of your home, David Smith makes every effort to match brick, shingles, and trim work. In instances where perfect matching is virtually impossible, wise choices in complementary materials can often be made so that the new construction blends seamlessly with the old.
Inside, the first area most homeowners want to tackle is the kitchen. It's usually a heavily used room and countertops, cabinets, and flooring can take a real beating… especially with young families. A freshly designed kitchen with granite countertops, stylish & functional cabinetry, tile or wood flooring, under cabinet lighting, a new sink with a stylish faucet, and Energy Star appliances can breathe new life into this very busy area of your home.
Bathroom PhotoOf all the rooms in a home, no room gets dated faster than the bathroom. Interestingly, many people can enter a bathroom, and by looking at the ceramic tile, sinks, and toilet, give you a pretty accurate idea of when the house was built. (To double-check, you can use an old realtor's trick. Pick up the toilet tank lid, flip it over, and often times you'll see its manufacture date stamped into the ceramic. Unless the lid has been replaced, it gives you a good idea of when the house was built.)
Ceramic tile for both kitchens and baths is now available in an incredible array of new textures, colors, and patterns. And the variety of faucets, basins, and tub/shower fixtures is almost unlimited. Even toilets have been vastly improved!
